Dear Jason,
Applying for college can be intimidating, confusing, and ultimately perplexing without an experienced guide.
Your experience as a winner of multiple scholarships has helped me immeasurably. While I was applying for entrance to some of the most competitive institutions in the country, you took the time to read my work carefully, offered his advice and suggestions, and met with me in person in order to coordinate an application strategy that proved extremely effective.
Thanks to your efforts, I'll be heading to Harvard in the fall, and the strategies he taught me have already helped me to win one substantial scholarship. Thank you Jason!"
- E. Kim, Rochester, MN, Admitted to Harvard University, Class of 2010
"Jason's seminar is possibly the most valuable time you will ever spend on an issue that most students worry about when it's too late."
- Allyson Rudy, Chaska School District 112
"Arguably the single most important college scholarship seminar available today."
- Marsha Buchok, Edina Schools
"His lectures consistently receive stellar student evaluations, and draw many parents and students just based on word-of-mouth."
- Jane Sink, Minnetonka Community Education
Jason, my wife Abigail and I attended your College Scholarship class at Hopkins High School on February 21 -- we were so impressed that our Southwest High School sophomore Mathilde (age 15) and I attended your College Boot Camp class in Eden Prairie on March 2. We really enjoyed attending and learning together in College Boot Camp as dad and daughter. As a high school sophomore, Mathilde really felt this class gave her a head start . We felt it unraveled many of the mysteries of scholarship applications. It was nice to see both the applications and to learn about a wide variety of scholarships. We also enjoyed the national perspective and a comparison of many schools and their programs -- your personal stories kept us engaged. This class really takes a long-term view, right through graduate school, and touched upon many of our favorite schools. You really understand college finances, and the importance of AP classes for college admissions.
- Michael Mouw, Multimedia Director, Minnesota Historical Society
I attended your workshop twice at Roseville High School, the first time when my son was a sophomore and again (with him in tow) when he was a junior. I wanted to let you know that your words of advice helped lead him to enter several scholarship competitions, including a national competition offered by the Order of the Sons of Italy in America. Although there are no chapters in Minnesota, we asked my in-laws to find out about scholarship opportunities since they have been involved with this group in NY for over 30 years. They sent us the brochure and we sent off the required information and an essay about the contributions of Italian-Americans. Last weekend, my son was contacted by the selection committee, meeting that day in Washington, D.C. He was informed that he had been chosen to win their top prize, a $25, 000.00 scholarship! If that wasn't enough (and we felt that was plenty!), he is to receive the award at the group's annual black tie gala in Washington, D.C. next month where the President, Congressional leaders and other dignitaries typically attend! Our family is thrilled and his grandparents plan to meet us there for what will most likely be a once-in-a-lifetime event!!

Meanwhile, he has also received a gift/scholarship from the NYC lodge my in-laws are active in, as well as one from the Roseville Kiwanis group. We are awaiting word on the Robert C. Byrd scholarship (he was one of three nominees from RAHS) and a Best Buy scholarship. Although the work required to complete all these applications and essays, in addition to his 7 school application packets, was rather daunting at times, we feel very fortunate that he persevered and did so!

Thank you, Mr. Lum, for the information and inspiration that you provided to us through your workshops! Your presentation motivated us to look beyond the typical resources for scholarship sponsors and we have reaped wonderful rewards!
- Suzanne S., Roseville, MN, Suzanne's son was accepted at each of his seven schools, including Yale University.
Just a note to second what my wife has already told you about our joy and appreciation for your assistance in Austin’s wonderful success in admission and financial aid at the College of Wooster.

Needless to say I am overwhelmed by the generous award he received. The excitement of preparing our son to attend such a highly praised institution is an emotional experience that is hard to describe.

I hope that your career as an advisor on college admissions and financial aid continues to bloom. You have certainly been a great help to us.

We look forward to working with you for the benefit of our daughter Adria. With you on our team, Adria is certain to be as successful as Austin.

Thanks again, and I hope to meet you again during this exciting process.
- Roger H., Eden Prairie, MN, Roger's son received a financial aid package valued at $40,000 for his first year of college.
Jason, you convinced me that even though our son was not a top student and did not have a good ACT score, with your help he was admitted into several great colleges with some impressive financial packages. Without you, this wonderful opportunity for our son would not have happened.

Thanks again.

“Jason was great! He held out attention the whole time and was enthusiastic. He gave a lot of helpful tips and ideas and really opened my eyes to different options out there; like going abroad with rotary scholarships. I definitely recommend him in the future.”

“He had some great advice that was very applicable to me and my situation! I would have listened to him for longer!”

“Crazy! Great!”

“Jason provided a lot of great tips on how to fund school. He made something as daunting as grad school seems more like a possibility.”

I also would agree with the comments above. Your presentation was extremely helpful and motivational. The tips given were essential in making students realize that there is money out there, they just need to access it.

Hello! I attended your class last night at Maple Grove Senior High. I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled about coming to it because I thought it would be another boring lecture, but you surprised me! You taught me many valuable techniques that I can use in my search for scholarships; you also put everything into perspective. Even with a 3.7 gpa I doubted my chances of winning any scholarships, but after your class, I have the confidence and drive to try my hardest! I am excited to see what I can do. Thank you for coming to my school, you helped more than you may think!
- Ellie K., Maple Grove, MN
Hi Jason,

I just wanted to send an email and say thank you. I feel like I never properly said thanks for all the work you put into helping me. There are not words to tell you how much you have helped me get through the maze of applying to college. It certainly is difficult, but I am very thankful for the help you provided.
- Molly B., Lakeville, MN
Dear Jason,

Every kid in college or preparing to go to college should listen to what you have to say. The kids need to hear this so they know what to do and the parents need to hear this so they can remind their kids what they should be doing. Funding college is a multi-faceted undertaking and there is no reason that scholarships can’t be a major part of that funding. Your seminar changed our thinking and our approach to winning scholarships. With two daughters in college and a son only two years away, they all have a new part time job…..applying for scholarships!
