About ScholarEdge Founder Jason Lum
Jason serves as CNBC’s contributing consultant regarding college admissions and financial aid, and worked for Harvard University’s Admissions Office. A recipient of $250,000 in scholarship winnings, and a graduate of Harvard and Berkeley, Jason is president of ScholarEdge College Consulting, serving as a college admissions and scholarships consultant to families, schools, and public/private organizations since 2000. Jason’s work with high school students and families has been profiled by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune, CBS news, CBS radio, and dozens of newsletters and media outlets.
Jason holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall). He has worked as an assistant to a Member of Congress, an administrator in a large urban public housing authority, and as a law clerk at the United States Department of Justice. In addition, Jason practiced law with a multinational law firm prior to serving as a civil rights attorney in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jason also lectures as an adjunct professor teaching courses in the fields of law, government, and public policy.
